Unlocking Northern Ghana’s Agricultural Potential: A Path to Economic Growth and Poverty ReductionGhana’s economy is marked by stark regional disparities, with the northern regions—Northern, Upper East, and Upper West—lagging behind the south in terms of employment, income, and welfare. While the southern regions thrive on services and industrial activities, the north remains heavily reliant on agriculture, which employs 34% of the workforce and contributes 19% to GDP. However, despite its potential, the agricultural sector in the north faces significant challenges, including poor infrastructure, limited access to finance, and unpredictable weather patterns.
